Many Brits 'would not give up broadband'
New research from Hyperoptic has revealed a significant proportion of people in the UK would rather live without either chocolate or alcohol than give up their broadband connection.
Following a poll of more than 3,000 people that asked respondents to name the things they would be most willing to sacrifice, just nine per cent said they could live without the internet. This compared to 45 per cent who chose chocolate, 24 per cent for alcohol and 22 per cent who said sex.
Hyperoptic managing director Dana Tobak said: "UK residents are doubling their broadband data usage year-on-year, and having a fast, reliable service is at the heart of improving our quality of life as we increasingly spend more time online."
She added that Britain is renowned for being a nation of fast adopters and internet enthusiasts, meaning it is unsurprising that so many say they would rather give up some of life's other pleasures to keep themselves online.
