Rural Oxfordshire broadband boost
Homes and businesses in rural Oxfordshire are to benefit from the installation of new superfast broadband services in the coming months.
Plans have been announced for the delivery of high-speed connections to around 260 local residents in the constituency of West Oxfordshire following the award of a new contract by the district council, the Oxford Times reports.
Cotswolds Broadband will now take on responsibility for the delivery of improved broadband services in the area, with Chief Executive Hugo Pickering stating this latest award brings the total number of properties that will benefit from better broadband in the area to more than 6,100.
Full details of the project must now be hashed out, with Mr Pickering commenting: "We'll have a more accurate timeline once we get the network design down."
The scheme is now expected to be finalised by the end of the month and first cabling is hoped to get underway by the start of September.
