Andrew Percy MP praises Brigg fibre broadband rollout
Brigg and Goole MP Andrew Percy has praised BT for bringing fibre optic broadband to his constituency.
The telecoms giant is set to roll out super-fast broadband to more than 6,000 homes and businesses in Brigg over the coming weeks, reports the Market Rasen Mail.
Mr Percy noted that until now, many residents have been stuck with unacceptably slow broadband connections. "My constituents have frequently complained at a poor service and this has now been put right," he explained.
As customers gain access to the fibre broadband service, they will see their line speed rocket to up to 80Mbps, which the MP pointed out is "clearly much faster" than the 2Mbps capabilities that were previously available in many areas.
Brigg is the latest Lincolnshire town to gain access to fibre optic broadband, with BT previously carrying out upgrades in communities such as Lincoln, Louth, Stamford and Birchwood.
Next year, the company is planning to increase its super-fast broadband footprint in Lincolnshire to 183,000 properties.
