BT fibre broadband rollout hits Ravenhill and Swansea
BT has brought fibre optic broadband to the first properties in Ravenhill and Swansea, with more than 30,000 homes and businesses set to be connected in the coming weeks.
The two communities are the latest in south Wales to benefit from the telecoms giant's £2.5 billion commercial super-fast broadband rollout, with several others - including Morriston, Mumbles and Sketty - already connected.
BT has earmarked a number of other exchanges for upgrades by the end of spring 2014, with Bishopston, Neath and Port Talbot all set to be included in the deployment.
As well as this commercial investment, BT is partnering with the Welsh government on the Superfast Cymru project, which aims to bring fibre broadband to 96 per cent of properties across the country by 2016.
Ann Beynon, BT's director for Wales, said: "As more than a million UK households and businesses have already discovered, fibre broadband opens up a whole new world to internet users."
