Business in Portsmouth are being offered vouchers to subsidise their access to new superfast broadband connections.

Access to superfast broadband connectivity is being subsidised for business in Portsmouth, as part of the ongoing Super Connected Cities programme.

Local publication The News reports companies in the area are able to access vouchers for up to £3,000 to help cover the costs of the installation of next-generation broadband networks.

Local business owner Andy Hobbs saw his company Kern Ltd become the first recipient of a Super Connected Cities voucher this month, with the money helping to ensure the mailing systems provider can transfer its essential business data more swiftly and easily.

"The internet line provided is extremely important to us in providing services to our customers," he said.

Super Connected Cities has a budget of £4.7 million and is open to to companies in Fareham, Gosport, Portsmouth and Havant, which have a turnover of less than £40 million and employ fewer than 250 members of staff.
