Derbyshire residents learn more about fibre broadband rollout
Homeowners from Derbyshire have been given fresh information regarding when they can expect to gain access to fibre optic broadband.
The Digital Derbyshire initiative was created to bring the superfast service to properties across the region and organisers have set a target of connecting 95 per cent of premises within the next two years. It has been the subject of a £27.67 million investment.
Alongside a new website, which helps users track when the service is scheduled to arrive at their property, local people can also view a video that demonstrates the hard work being done by engineers to lay fibre optic cables for the network.
Derbyshire County Council Cabinet Member for Jobs, Economy and Transport Joan Dixon explained that although it was the council who facilitated the project, the passion for the cause shown locally cannot be underestimated.
She said: "The support of residents and businesses was vital to securing the funding package received by Digital Derbyshire."
