Faster connections hold-up for Suffolk residents

Some areas of Suffolk could face delays in improvements to superfast broadband connectivity.

Many parts of Suffolk are being connected to improved broadband infrastructure at present, but some parts of the county are now facing a significant wait in achieving this improved level of connectivity.

The parish of Wortham and Burgate is one such area that has now been pushed down the priorities list for the ongoing Better Broadband for Suffolk programme, although the parish will see improvements by the end of 2018, local publication the Diss Express reports.

A target has been set for 95 per cent of the county to be covered by superfast broadband speeds of up to 24 Mbps by 2017/18 as part of the Better Broadband for Suffolk project, with some areas currently witnessing download rates of just 0.5 Mbps.

Responding to the announcement, parish council chairman Stephen Rash told the news provider: "There is little we can do about it, but it is disappointing that we are at the end of the rollout for extra-fast broadband."
