Fibre broadband hopes for Stanbury
Many residents in the West Yorkshire district of Stanbury are currently faced with inadequate or non-existent internet connections, but this could be set to change thanks to the work of a local broadband campaign group.
Fibre Valley is working to roll out better broadband to homes and businesses throughout certain parts of Yorkshire, as it realises the great benefits a fibre connection can bring.
Keighley News reports that network provider Virgin Media has said there is a possibility it will extend its fibre broadband rollout to Stanbury and is set to provide a quote to Fibre Valley for consideration.
However, there are still concerns that some local consumers wouldn't be able to access the high-speed technology, so the campaign group is looking to work with Virgin Media to ensure end users can connect to the best possible service.
Fibre Valley Spokesman Ken Eastwood explained: "This is an opportunity to develop a 'community alternative network', known as an 'altnet', similar to some of those provided in isolated locations in North Yorkshire and Lincolnshire."
