Hyperoptic offers fibre broadband to Chelsea and Kensington
Hyperoptic has offered to pick up the slack after BT scrapped plans to roll out fibre optic broadband in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
BT's decision came after the borough council decided to reject 96 of the telecoms giant's proposed 108 cabinet upgrades in the upmarket area as part of its plans to de-clutter the local streets.
Dana Pressman-Tobak, managing director of Hyperoptic, said residents and businesses in Kensington and Chelsea who are still interested in receiving super-fast broadband access should get in touch with the company.
Hyperoptic is currently rolling out 1Gbps fibre broadband infrastructure across London, starting last October with a residential installation at Prices Court in Wandsworth.
The company's solution negates the need for street cabinets to be deployed, as the fibre optic broadband runs directly to each individual building.
"It's no wonder the councils didn't want to add another host of 'green boxes' to the already crowded streets," Ms Pressman-Tobak commented.
