KC to include Hull tower blocks in fibre broadband trial
KC has announced five residential tower blocks near Hull city centre will be included in its fibre optic broadband pilot scheme.
Customers who sign up for the initiative will need to give feedback on the performance of their connection, which will offer speeds of up to 80Mbps and unlimited downloads.
The telecoms firm has been installing cables in the Great Thornton Street area, where the buildings are located, since July and plans to have the first household hooked up to the service by early November, reports Hello from Hull and East Yorkshire.
KC has already started the trial in the nearby village of Woodmansey, with a launch event held at the Warton Arms Pub in September to raise awareness of the project.
Nick Thompson, the company's director of consumer services, said: "We've had great feedback from the customers we've already connected to our super-fast broadband in Woodmansey, where broadband speeds were slower than average."
