Marketing firm claims Cornwall has better broadband than Silicon Valley
Cornwall's Lizard Peninsula has faster broadband than Northern California's Silicon Valley tech hub, according to the owners of a local online marketing company.
Rob and Andrea Edlin, who own Helston-based Niddocks, were invited to last month's Google Engage All-Stars Summit in California, where they tested the broadband speeds available in a number of venues.
They found that many of these establishments - including a large hotel in the middle of Silicon Valley - offered much slower speeds than they would be able to receive at home, reports Business Cornwall.
Mrs Edlin said she believes businesses in Cornwall are leaders rather than followers when it comes to digital technology.
"Most of our tourism businesses and hotels have access to superfast broadband and they also provide customers with the fastest option of broadband as their standard," she explained.
BT has been busy rolling out fibre optic broadband across the county and announced in July that coverage had surpassed the 70 per cent mark.
