Residents from North Lincolnshire will soon be able to access BT's fibre optic broadband network.

It has been announced that a number of communities in the North Lincolnshire area will be included in BT's fibre optic network.

Engineering work to lay cables to a number of villages is underway and the telecommunications giant expects this project to be complete by the end of September.

Residents in Winterton, Humberston, Waltham, Epworth, Saxby All Saints and Cleethorpes will be among those to benefit from the latest rollout, which has seen BT improve the online infrastructure of a number of sparsely populated regions.

Councillor Neil Poole, Cabinet Member for Policy and Resources at North Lincolnshire Council, which helped to organise the rollout, said: "The superfast broadband project is well under way and soon many more areas across northern Lincolnshire will be able to reap the benefits of high-speed broadband."

This latest announcement is part of BT's £2.5 billion fibre optic broadband scheme, which aims to connect two-thirds of UK premises to superfast infrastructure within the coming months.
