Superfast Cymru brings fibre broadband to Gower
Fibre broadband has arrived in the Welsh community of Gower thanks to the Superfast Cymru rollout programme.
The South Wales Evening Post reports the superfast technology is now available to both residential and commercial properties in the area, with local people benefiting from improved upload and download speeds.
In addition, it is hoped having access to faster internet at home will reduce the need for travel for those wishing to work flexibly, therefore having potential benefits for the environment too. Better connections could also help to create jobs and encourage progress for existing businesses.
Deputy Minister for Skills and Technology Ken Skates has previously outlined plans to make Wales one of the best countries in the world in terms of its broadband access.
He stated: "We aim to reach 96 per cent of properties by the end of spring 2016, making fibre available to more people more quickly than the rest of the UK."
Gower residents are being urged to contact their respective network providers to find out about receiving an upgrade to fibre broadband at home or at work.
